| This checklist should be used annually approximately 60 days prior to the renewal of your commercial insurance policies so you can better budget your insurance costs. Consideration should be given to meeting face to face with your insurance representative, if possible, so you have a thorough understanding of the insurance policy terms, conditions and limitations. After all this is your business! |

GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE:

Insurance for what the policyholder (you) is legally obligated to pay because of bodily injury or property damage caused to another person, except Automobile and Professional Liability. Pricing or rating for liability is usually determined by; gross sales, payroll, or area depending on your operation

Yes No If Yes, you should notify your insurance agent as most general liability policies have an audit provision. This could result in you, after the policy period, being charged more or receiving a return premium since the actual rate base had changed from your original estimate.

2) Have there been any signification changes in your business? For example have you started offering other products or services? Have you added staff (payroll)?

3) Have you reviewed the overall financial health of your company? That review should include examining your current limits of liability. Do you have enough liability insurance to protect you and your business against allegation which could lead to litigation?

AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE:

Auto Insurance provides protection from losses resulting from owning and operating an auto. The insurance covers losses to the insured's property and losses for which the insured is liable as a result of owning or operating an auto.

1) Have you added or deleted any vehicle from your fleet?

2) Have you reviewed the actual cash value of your vehicle to determine if comprehensive or collision coverage is worth the insurance expense to insure those exposures? www.nada.com is a good resource to determine fair market value of your vehicle(s).
Yes No, if you have decided not to insure the physical damage, contact your insurance agent.
Note: If you have a lien holder on your vehicle, you may not have to option to delete comprehensive or collision coverage until the loan is paid off.

3) Has the use or radius of operation changed on any of your vehicles changed?

4) Are you considering or have you hired new drivers for your business?
Yes No If Yes, have you checked that person Motor Vehicle Report to make sure that person’s driving record meets your company standards?
Note: It is strongly recommended you seek legal advise to determine when and how you can obtain Motor Vehicle Reports (MVR’s) on employees.

5) Have you reviewed the current limits of liability on your policy to see if you are carrying high enough limits should you be brought into litigation due to you or your employee’s legal liability?

7) This question should be answered if you are a home based business without a commercial automobile or package insurance policy.
Do you allow your employee’s to use your personal vehicle for business use?
Yes No If Yes, you should contact your insurance agent to discuss this. It is very likely your personal automobile policy is not the correct policy and consideration should be given to purchasing a commercial automobile policy due to the inherent coverage gaps found in personal automobile insurance policies.

WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE:

Insurance that pays for medical care and physical rehabilitation of injured workers and helps to replace lost wages while they are unable to work. State laws, which vary significantly, govern the amount of benefits paid and other compensation provisions.

Protects you if your employees steal from your business or customers.

A professional liability policy covering the policyholder for negligent acts and omissions that may harm his or her clients.
